Redblacks Close Preseason Out Against Als

Ahead of a Week 1 bye, the Ottawa REDBLACKS are back under the lights at TD Place, tonight, in a date with the defending Grey Cup champions on Friday night.

The Montreal Alouettes are the opponent, tonight, in a 7:00pm kickoff. It’s the second, and final exhibition game for the REDBLACKS, who picked up a 31-22 over the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton, a week ago. Montreal is also looking to sweep their preseason schedule, after downing the Toronto Argonauts 30-10 at home, a week ago.

Ottawa gives fans a look at what will likely make up much of their opening night roster, as the REDBLACKS lineup will be painted with potential starters. Dru Brown starts once again, as does Ryquell Armstead, with offensive linemen Dino Boyd, Drew Desjarlais, and Dariusz Bladek entering the lineup. Dom Rhymes, Jaelon Acklin, Justin Hardy, and Bralon Addison will highlight the receiving corps.

On defence, the ferocious Ottawa defensive line is back, with 2023 sack leader runner-up Bryce Carter, Mike Wakefield, Cleyon Laing, and 2022 MODP Lorenzo Mauldin IV putting their hands in the dirt. Prized free agent Adarius Pickett makes his REDBLACKS debut in the sam linebacker spot, joining returning standouts in Jovan Santos-Knox, and Frankie Griffin. Alijah McGhee starts at field corner, across the filed from Money Hunter, who slides over to fill in for the injured Brandin Dandridge. Damon Webb and Tobias Harris are the halfbacks, with Alonzo Addae at safety.

Bob Dyce and Cory McDiarmid’s special teams units will boast returning All-Stars in Richie Leone, Lewis Ward, and DeVonte Dedmon — who ran a punt back 91 yards to the endzone last week — alongside new long snapper Peter Adjey.

Fans can catch all the action on TSN, RDS, CFL+, or listen live on TSN 1200 and 14,7 Outaouais.
