Ottawa REDBLACKS rookie linebacker Antoine Pruneau has been named top Canadian in the Canadian Football League for the month of October.

The 25-year-old Montreal native and graduate of the University of Montreal registered 22 tackles during the last four games, beginning October 3 during a convincing 42-20 victory by the REDBLACKS at TD Place over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

He also added a special teams tackle and one sack (on Zack Collaros on Oct. 17 in Hamilton) and two knockdowns during that period.

Pruneau, drafted fourth overall by the REDBLACKS in the 2014 CFL Draft, has 62 tackles and two sacks this season.

Antoine Pruneau is #1 in defensive tackles among rookies with 62. As a starter in Ottawa’s last 11 games, Pruneau has led the club with 59 tackles. In the last 11 weeks, Pruneau is #2 in defensive tackles in the entire CFL behind only Solomon Elimimian of the B.C. Lions (84).

Fans in Ottawa-Gatineau have made Pruneau one of the crowd favourites and have a final chance to see him and the rest of the REDBLACKS in action on home turf this Friday, October 31, against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the last home game of the season at TD Place.

The REDBLACKS complete the inaugural 2014 season on Friday, November 7 against the Argonauts at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
